Six Million Are Dead Due to COVID-19

A grim milestone has been reached: 6 million people across the globe have died during the past 3 years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As case numbers continue to decline and life returns to normal in the United States, it is difficult to grasp the reality that so many lives have been lost. Some areas, such as isolated Pacific islands, are just now dealing with the Omicron’s intense transmissibility and resulting deaths. Eastern Europe remains in the pandemic phase with increasing mortality rates and low levels of vaccination, in addition to an influx of refugees due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
