Christine M. Farrell, RDH, BSDH, MPA, is director of the Oral Health Program for the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS). She has more than 30 years of public service with the MDHHS and has been the oral health director since June 2010. Farrell has a wealth of knowledge at both the state and federal levels and a great deal of experience advising public health staff and partners on a vast array of program, financial and administrative issues related to oral health, dental public health, Medicaid, and prevention programs. In addition, her duties include ensuring the oral health program effectively educates the public about oral health issues as well as the implementation of preventive activities to improve the oral health of Michigan residents throughout their lifetime. Farrell is also an adjunct clinical lecturer at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry in Ann Arbor and a member of the Perspectives on the Midlevel Practitioner Editorial Advisory Board.
