
Hot and Dry Conditions May Hinder Viability of Novel Coronavirus
New research provides good news for those living the desert lifestyle. It seems that the SARS-CoV-2 virus contained within droplets released when people talk, sneeze, or cough dry more quickly in hot, dry conditions. Once the droplets dry, the virus is unable to survive, reducing the likelihood of transmission. Published in the journal Physics of Fluids, these results suggest that weather impacts the viability of the novel coronavirus. The researchers also found that virus-containing droplets took the longest to dry in humid climates with lower temperatures. Read more here.
