EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
After reading this course, the participant should be able to:

1. Explain the prevalence of neuro-developmental disorders in children, including sensory processing disorders, and the two categories of sensory processing disorders most recognizable by oral health professionals.
2. Describe the unique and fluid nature of sensory processing disorders, and why adapting the dental environment to the patient’s specific needs can improve care.
3. List techniques that can help prepare these patients for a successful dental visit and support optimal care while in the clinic.
