William Giannobile, DDS, MS, DMedSc, is the Najjar endowed professor of Dentistry and Biomedical Engineering and the director of the Michigan Center for Oral Health Research at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He recently completed his sabbatical year in 2006 as a visiting professor at the Biotechnology Institute of Regenerative Medicine at the University of Genova Medical School in Genova, Italy. Giannobile has published more than 125 manuscripts, textbook chapters, and abstracts and has lectured extensively in the area of periodontal regenerative medicine and tissue engineering. He also serves as a consultant to the Food and Drug Administration and the National Institutes of Health. Giannobile is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and maintains a private practice limited to periodontics and implantology in Farmington Hills, Mich.
