Tabitha Price, RDH, MPH, is an assistant professor and junior clinic coordinator
in the dental hygiene program at the Department of Allied Health Sciences, East Tennessee
State University, in Johnson City. She is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in
health science from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Price is the coauthor
of two previously published articles in Dimensions of Dental Hygiene on treating
burning mouth syndrome and educating patients about the human papillomavirus.
Dental hygienists play an important role in providing effective oral health care to patients with diabetes, and in recognizing the symptoms of undiagnosed diabetes.
