ODU Dental Hygiene Professors Receive Accolades

Two professors at the Old Dominion University (ODU) Gene W. Hirschfeld School of Dental Hygiene in Norfolk, Virginia, recently received awards.
Denise Claiborne, RDH, PhD, the school’s graduate program director, received the Outstanding Faculty Teaching Award. This honor recognizes a full-time faculty member who excels in educating future dental hygienists. Claiborne’s research interests include pediatric oral health, maternal and child oral health, and health policies. She is also a member of Dimensions of Dental Hygiene’s Peer Review Panel and a frequent contributor.
Jessica Suedbeck, RDH, MSDH, director of clinical affairs and senior clinical coordinator received the Rising Star Researcher Award, which honors a full-time faculty member who demonstrates outstanding scholarly activity early in his or her career. She teaches clinical courses, and is course director for a telehealthcare technology course. Suedbeck’s research focuses on workplace safety and ergonomics, and she is a frequent contributor to Dimensions.
