Silver Diamine Fluoride

SDI (North America) Inc, Bayswater, Australia, has received United States Food and Drug Administration registration approval to market its Riva Star silver diamine fluoride (SDF) desensitizer in the US. With SDF and potassium iodide (KI) as the key ingredients, Riva Star is designed to immediately relieve dentinal hypersensitivity. The product’s two-step patented procedure minimizes the risk of tooth staining. The KI solution is applied over the SDF, forming a silver iodine precipitate, which does not stain teeth.
