Dental hygienists, especially those at the top of their skill set, use the blended approach—which combines the use of ultrasonic and hand instrumentation—in order to achieve the best patient outcomes. This is the subject of the continuing education (CE) article“The Blended Approach to Instrumentation,” by Nancy Mann, RDH, MSEd—a clinical professor of dental hygiene at Indiana University-Purdue University in Fort Wayne and a Dimensions of Dental Hygiene Peer Review Panel member.
The two-unit CE course is supported by an unrestricted educational grant from Hu-Friedy, and explores the importance of harnessing the strengths of both instrumentation methods to achieve success in nonsurgical periodontal therapy. Read the full CE article.
