The 32nd Legislature of the Virgin Islands approved several bills in late December, including two related to dental therapy.  Sen. Nereida Rivera-O’Reilly special ordered both bills during the last Senate Session of 2018. Bill No. 32-0235 allows the inclusion of a dental therapist on the Board of Dental Examiners, while Bill No. 32-0236 updates the Dental Healthcare Act to allow the practice of dental therapy in the territory. Under both bills, dental therapists are limited to practicing only within the confines of public health centers. For more information, visit: legvi.org.
