Age in Place
May 11, 2015 – Dear advocates,
We invite you to join Oral Health America in a sign-on letter urging Senate leadership to move S.192, the Older Americans Act Reauthorization of 2015, to the Senate floor for passage.
As we celebrate Older Americans Month this May, it is important to recognize programs and policies that have improved the way older adults live today. The Older Americans Act (OAA) was originally established in 1965 to address the lack of community social services needed by older adults. Recently, S.192, the OAA Reauthorization Act of 2015 was introduced by U.S. Senate Health Committee leaders and passed by the Senate HELP Committee in late January. In addition, S. 192, for the first time includes a provision to fund oral health screenings at no added cost! It’s time for S.192 to move to the Senate floor for passage to ensure that older Americans are able to age where they feel most comfortable–in their own homes.
The deadline to participate is Wednesday, May 27th! For questions, contact bianca.rogers@oralhealthamerica.org.
Thank you in advance!
