OSAP Announces Late Breaker Program on “Pathogens, Policies and Politics” at Annual Infection Control Conference in Atlanta 

June 5, 2017: (ATLANTA, GA) — At the intersection on education, research and emerging trends, the Organization for Safety, Asepsis and Prevention (OSAP), a community of clinicians, educators, consultants, researchers and industry representatives who advocate for the Safest Dental Visit™, has announced a session on infectious diseases and politics at the OSAP Annual Conference. The session, Late Breaker! Pathogens, Policies and Politics, will take place on Friday, June 23 at 1:45 pm and spotlights the national and international updates on critical disease threats. Featuring esteemed experts from the CDC and academia, the two-hour panel will also discuss and explore the antibiotic resistance and healthcare under a new administration. 

The session, supported by an education grant provided by Hu-Friedy, includes panel presenters: 

  • Hudson Garrett PhD, MSN, MPH, Global Chief Clinical Officer, Pentax Medical, OSAP Board Member (facilitator) 
  • Michael Bell MD, Deputy Director of Division of Healthcare, Quality Promotion from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) 
  • Sanjay Chand, MBBS, MD, Director of Infection Control, University of Detroit Mercy 
  • Lauri Hicks DO, Medical Epidemiologist for NCIRD, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention 

“The audience at this event will get an inside perspective from thought leaders on current infection control issues and how the clinical landscape may impact the application of evidence based practices to procedures and policies,” said Dr. Hudson Garrett, PhD, MSN, MPH, and facilitator of the panel. “Dr. Bell, Dr. Chand and Dr. Hicks will provide a timely and riveting discussion on the role of public health, recognizing the risks and consequences of patient care delivery and optimizing antibiotic stewardship practices.” 

The OSAP conference is the premier infection control education and networking event. Hundreds of individuals involved in the dentistry arena will come together on June 22- 25, 2017 at the Grand Hyatt in Atlanta to take part in the richly constructed education programs and share interests in critically important topics.
