Moderna Releases Good News on its COVID-19 Vaccine
Moderna published data on the effectiveness of its COVID-19 vaccine, and the news is good: the shot remains 93% effective with two doses administered 6 months post-jab. The immunization is 94% effective 2 weeks following the second dose of the shot series. In comparison, the effectiveness of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccination decreased to 84% 6 months after the second dose is administered. Moderna plans to manufacture between 800 million and 1 billion doses by the end of this year. Both Moderna and Pfizer expect a booster shot to be necessary as immunity wanes over time.
