Medical Considerations for Safe Anesthesia Administration

Crystal Kanderis Lane, RDH, BS, MS, is an assistant professor in the Department of Dental Hygiene at Idaho State University in Pocatello, and a clinical oral healthcare provider of 16 years. She teaches local anesthesia, clinical dental hygiene, and restorative expanded functions, in addition to serving as the dental hygiene program’s health and safety coordinator. As a member of the American Dental Hygienists’ Association, American Dental Education Association, Organization of Safety, Asepsis and Prevention, Idaho Oral Health Alliance, and Dimensions of Dental Hygiene’s Peer Review Panel, Lane is committed to professional development and growth.

Melissa Ray, RDH, BS, MS, is an assistant professor in the Department of Dental Hygiene at Idaho State University (ISU) in Pocatello. She teaches dental material and tooth morphology, coordinates and operates labs for both courses, and is a clinical instructor in preventive, restorative, and local anesthesia clinics. Ray has 25 years of clinical practice and community experience. She is a member of the American Dental Hygienists’ Association and American Dental Education Association.

Michaela Chandler, BSDH, RDH, is a clinical instructor in the Dental Hygiene Program at ISU. She has helped in the restorative clinic for 2 years and in the preventive clinic for 1 year. When she is not at ISU working with students, she is in private practice providing comprehensive care to patients.
