Google Supports Carnegie Mellon’s COVID-19 Forecasting Project

Pittsburgh’s Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) has received a $1 million donation, as well as a team of Google fellows—including software engineers and researchers—at no cost to CMU, to support its COVID-19 forecasting project. The project, which is run by CMU’s Delphi Research Group, has been geographically tracking the novel coronavirus within the United States since April and providing public health officials with advance notice when rising outbreaks are noted. Its COVIDcast visualization website provides data on self-reported symptoms, medical visits for COVID-19 treatment, and the time individuals spend outside of their homes. Click here to read more.
