Genetic Protein May Be Key to Hindering Ability of SARS-CoV-2 to Replicate

New research shows that targeting the RNA protein, METTL3—used by the novel coronavirus to replicate—may enable the development of medications that can effectively treat COVID-19. Published in Genes and Development, the study found that the chemically inhibition of METTL3 had antiviral effects not only on SARS-CoV-2, but also on the viruses that cause the common cold.
