Dentistry Gets Back to Business

Thirty-nine states, as of May 12, have allowed dental practices to reopen for elective procedures, according to the American Dental Association. With almost half of dental practices in these states hiring back their full staff, unemployment among oral health professionals is expected to decline and some experts suggest dentistry may experience a quick recovery. Dental practices in 7 states—Washington, New Mexico, Michigan, Maine, Vermont, New York, and Massachusetts—remain closed except for emergency procedures only; however, with the exception of Maine, they all have reopen dates set for sometime in May.
