COVID-19 Cluster in Eastern NY Nursing Home Traced to Dental Hygienist
The Glendale Home in Scotia, New York—a county-funded facility offering short-term rehabilitation and long-term care—reported an outbreak of COVID-19, with eight residents and nine employees testing positive. The positive cases were traced to a dental hygienist who visited the facility to provide oral healthcare to long-term care residents in the 210-bed home. The dental hygienist alerted the county on November 19 that she had tested positive for COVID-19. Residents and employees of the Glendale Home were then immediately tested. Thus far, the residents are experiencing flu-like symptoms only and are sequestered in a COVD-19 quarantine wing of the facility. Read more here.
