Suncica Travan, DDS, MS, is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and a Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. A former lecturer, she has been a full-time faculty member at the University of Michigan (Michigan) School of Dentistry in Ann Arbor since 2009. Travan’s specialties are implant dentistry (implant surgery, hard and soft tissue regeneration, etc) and clinical periodontics. She is active in clinical research related to bone and soft tissue augmentation and novel techniques in implant and periodontal therapy.
While implant therapy is a feasible option in patients with this metabolic disorder, oral health professionals need to consider a variety of factors before moving forward.
