Marcelo Freire, DDS, PhD, DMSC, is an assistant professor in the Immunology Department at the Forsyth Institute, Harvard School of Dental Medicine in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He is also the clinical and translational network president for the International Association of Dental Research. Freire's research focuses on modulating local and systemic processes that influence human healing. His lab has three major focus areas: drug discovery, inflammation and resolution, and tissue engineering. Currently, under the National Institutes of Health Career Development Track, Freire's work focuses on understanding the roles of inflammation and resolution in type 2 diabetes.
