Deborah L. Cartee, MS, RDH, CDA, is a clinical associate professor and a member of the Dean’s Faculty in the Dental Hygiene Program at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry (UMSOD) in Baltimore. With more than 45 years of clinical experience, she has dedicated over 20 years to full-time clinical and didactic teaching. As the professional development course director for “Local Anesthesia for Dental Hygienists” and “Nitrous Oxide Administration by the Dental Hygienist” at UMSOD, Cartee contributes to continuing education for dental hygiene professionals. She has presented lectures, locally, nationally, and internationally and published in both peer-reviewed journals and textbooks. Cartee’s leadership extends beyond academia; she was appointed by Governor Larry Hogan to the Maryland Commission for Women and currently serves on the Maryland State Board of Dental Examiners, appointed by Governor Wes Moore.
