Upward in 2020

A new year is upon us! Greeting another year is always thought-provoking since it’s likely the only time that we reflect back and look forward simultaneously.

A new year is upon us! Greeting another year is always thought-provoking since it’s likely the only time that we reflect back and look forward simultaneously. Reflecting back enables us to determine what progress we’ve made, especially when we look forward—or upward as I prefer to say. Upward promotes the concept of soaring rather than merely being propelled ahead. So upward is definitely where we want to go.

Reflecting back, it’s so gratifying to receive your emails and letters commending us on our content and quality. It makes us realize that we’re on track and are making a difference in your lives and the health of your patients. In looking upward, we also like to hear your ideas on how we can change and improve. Those comments enable us to grow and better serve your needs. At Dimensions of Dental Hygiene, our team is always thinking of ways to help move our profession upward. So how are we doing this in the new year? Following are a few examples.

With this issue, new departments are being introduced. “Digital Agenda” provides a recap of unique content available online. Each month it will list an overview of what’s happening with Dimensions across our digital platforms. Additionally, we’ve added “Social Commentary.” Have you wanted to provide your opinion regarding one of our articles or an issue in dental hygiene? Now you can! Each month we will ask a question about an article or timely topic related to dental hygiene, and you can respond on our Facebook page (facebook.com/dimensionsofdentalhygiene). Your response may appear in an upcoming edition of our Social Commentary column.

If you’re an Instagram fan, head over to Dimensions’ Instagram page (@dimensionsofdentalhygiene) to connect with our Brand Ambassadors. They will be sharing comments and videos on a variety of subjects to help you be your personal and professional best. No matter how long we’ve been in dental hygiene, we never stop learning. So look for our weekly quizzes in your email in-box. Designed to be quick and convenient self-study tools, each quiz is accompanied by slide shows to enhance your knowledge on various dental hygiene topics. And because we are committed to elevating the student experience, Dimensions has developed a new website specifically for our future colleagues. For students, the content on this site is designed for your needs and wants, whether you’re beginning your dental hygiene education or you’re ready to enter the workplace.

These new features and columns are only the beginning—we want to know how our content impacts your career. Reach out to me at jrethman@belmontpublications.com and let me know. I always enjoy hearing from you! In the meantime, all of us at Dimensions hope this new year brings you health, happiness, and prosperity. We’re excited to move upward with you!
