University of Texas Educator Receives Teaching Accolade

Harold A. Henson, RDH, PhD—professor, director of the Center for Teaching and Learning, and program coordinator for the Master of Science in Dental Hygiene Program at University of Texas (UT) Health Houston School of Dentistry—was inducted into the Kenneth I. Shine Academy of Health Science Education.

Harold A. Henson, RDH, PhD—professor, director of the Center for Teaching and Learning, and program coordinator for the Master of Science in Dental Hygiene Program at University of Texas (UT) Health Houston School of Dentistry—was inducted into the Kenneth I. Shine Academy of Health Science Education. Membership in this highly selective group enables the additional title of the University of Texas System Distinguished Teaching Professor and is based on recognition of recipients’ excellence in health science education, educational scholarship, and leadership. Henson is only the second dental hygienist to become a member.

Part of the Dimensions of Dental Hygiene Editorial Advisory Board, Henson is highly regarded by both his students and peers. He also received the UT System Regents’ Outstanding Teaching Award in November of 2021.
