Partnership Seeks to Ensure Kids Secure a Dental Home
Ensuring that children have a dental home is an important step to promoting a lifetime of good oral health.
Ensuring that children have a dental home is an important step to promoting a lifetime of good oral health. However, this task is daunting for those with limited resources. As a result, DentaQuest, a United States-based company that provides Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program dental benefits, and TeamSmile, an advocacy group that connects oral health professionals with professional athletic organizations to provide dental care to underserved children in the US, has launched TeamSmile Dental Home Project.
The program is designed to connect children in need with long-term dental care resources and dental teams, thus, establishing a dental home for kids who may otherwise have gone without professional dental care.
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that all children have a dental home by age 1. Through the TeamSmile Dental Home Project, children attending TeamSmile programs will be paired with a local primary dental provider.
John McCarthy, the executive director of TeamSmile, commented, “This initiative has the potential to positively impact thousands of children throughout the country each year. We are incredibly grateful for the support of DentaQuest in this endeavor.”
