New Perio Classification System Explained

The American Academy of Periodontology (AAP) and the European Federation of Periodontology recently released an updated classification system for periodontal and peri-implant diseases and conditions. To enable oral health professionals to fully grasp the new system, Theodoros Katsaros, DDS, MSD, provides a succinct but insightful summary in his article “An In-Depth Look at the New Peri-Implant and Periodontal Disease Classification System.”  Sponsored by Colgate and created in collaboration with the AAP, the article describes factors that can lead to peri-implantitis and periodontal diseases and discusses the clinical considerations for diagnosis of these common oral health problems.
