Dimensions of Dental Hygiene Editorial Advisory Board member Wayne A. Aldredge, DMD, was honored with the American Academy of Periodontology’s (AAP) Distinguished Service Award at the end of 2020. A longtime member and leader in the AAP, Aldredge is a past president, former chair of the Task Force on Dental Hygiene Engagement, and a trustee and member of several AAP committees.

“I’m extremely humbled and honored to have been recognized by the AAP for 20 years of dedicated service. This award means a lot to me…to be recognized by my peers for positively impacting the specialty and future of periodontics. Receiving recognition means that I have an obligation to continue mentoring the younger generation of periodontists,” Aldredge shared with Dimensions.

A clinical assistant professor in the Department of Periodontics and Implantology at Stony Brook University in Stony Brook, New York, Aldredge is also a diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. He maintains private periodontal practices in both Holmdel and Nutley, NewJersey.
