Dimensions of Dental Hygiene Editorial Advisory Board member Cynthia C. Gadbury-Amyot, MSDH, EdD, received the Alfred C. Fones Award at the American Dental Hygienists’ Association Annual Session in June in Las Vegas.
Dimensions of Dental Hygiene Editorial Advisory Board member Cynthia C. Gadbury-Amyot, MSDH, EdD, received the Alfred C. Fones Award at the American Dental Hygienists’ Association Annual Session in June in Las Vegas. Sponsored by Water Pik Inc, the award honors a dental hygienist who has made lasting contributions to the profession over the past 25 years.
Gadbury-Amyot is the associate dean of instructional technology and faculty development and a professor in the Division of Dental Hygiene at the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) School of Dentistry. She is experienced in a variety of academic roles and has contributed extensively to the scientific literature. A supporter of UMKC’s teledentistry program, Miles of Smiles— which provides preventive oral health services through mobile equipment at elementary schools with large populations of low-income students—Gadbury-Amyot is dedicated to improving access to care. She is also the 2013 Dimensions “Six Dental Hygienists You Want to Know” honoree in academia.
