Building Inclusive, Affirming Care for LGBTQIA+ Patients

Mallory M. Mills, MHA, RDH, CDA, EFDA, is an assistant professor in the Dental Hygiene and Dental Assisting Programs at the University of Southern Indiana (USI) in Evansville. She teaches courses in ethics and practice management, preventive dentistry, radiology, dental materials, and head and neck anatomy. Mills has completed LGBTQIA+ Ally training through Center for Campus Life and Gender and Sexuality Resources at USI. She practices dental hygiene in a general dentistry office also in Evansville. Lorinda L. Coan, MS, RDH, is a professor emerita in the Dental Hygiene Program at the University of Southern Indiana (USI) in Evansville. She served as course director of didactic courses and participated in clinical rotations with all dental hygiene students. Coan developed curricula and oral health-related education to health professional students in other allied health baccalaureate and graduate programs at USI. Her research focus includes tobacco cessation, education, interprofessional collaboration, and specific interests in dental hygiene practice.
