Lorinda L. Coan, MS, RDH, is a professor emerita in the Dental Hygiene Program at the University of Southern Indiana (USI) in Evansville. She served as course director of didactic courses and participated in clinical rotations with all dental hygiene students. Coan developed curricula and oral health-related education to health professional students in other allied health baccalaureate and graduate programs at USI. Her research focus includes tobacco cessation, education, interprofessional collaboration, and specific interests in dental hygiene practice.
Understanding LGBTQIA+ terminology and identities is a foundational step for dental hygienists to reduce disparities, foster trust, and deliver respectful, patient-centered oral healthcare.
