UNC Professor Named JADA’s New Editor in Chief

J. Tim Wright, DDS, MS, Distinguished Bawden Professor in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC-CH) Adams School of Dentistry, will serve as the 14th editor in chief of the Journal of the American Dental Association (JADA) beginning January 2021. A proud tar heel, he has also served as chair of the Department of Pediatric Dentistry, interim chair of the Department of Endodontics, and director of strategic initiatives for the UNC-CH Adams School of Dentistry. Wright has published more than 200 papers, edited two textbooks, and authored 24 chapters, and is an internationally recognized expert in the areas of amylogenesis, enamel defects, and children’s’ oral health.
A Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and Fellow of the American Academy for the Advancement of Science, Wright has also been a longtime contributor to Dimensions of Dental Hygiene, writing on such topics as the role of genetics in caries risk, educating patients about low/noncalorie sweeteners, and the processes of demineralization and remineralization, and serving as a peer reviewer.
Since 1913, the peer-reviewed JADA has been providing dentists with research reports, systematic reviews, and evidence-based guidelines in clinical dentistry. It is published monthly by the American Dental Association.
