West Virginia Is in the Lead for Maximizing Distribution of COVID-19 Vaccines

As it is estimated that at least 75% of Americans need to be vaccinated against SARS-CoV-2 in order to achieve herd immunity, the race is on to see which states can vaccinate their residents the quickest. Globally, Israel—with a population of about 9 million—is miles ahead, having already administered 5 million doses of the vaccine.

In the United States, approximately 27 million doses have been administered, with 6 million Americans having received both doses of either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine. When it comes to how well states have distributed doses of COVID-9 vaccines, West Virginia is winning the race. The state has administered 84.22% of its COVID-19 vaccine supply. The other states in the top 10 include: North Dakota (81.22%), New Mexico (80.75%), South Dakota (75.38%), South Carolina (72.77%), Connecticut (72.33%), Utah (71.78%), Montana (70.96%), Oklahoma (69.18%), and Virginia (68.7%). Mississippi has been the least effective, having administered only 50.69% of its COVID-19 vaccine supply. Click here to read more.
