New York Says No to Charging Patients Extra Fees for PPE

The New York State Department of Financial Services (DFS) announced that insurance companies cannot allow dentists to charge patients additional fees to cover the cost of personal protective equipment (PPE), and urged companies to seek reimbursement from dentists on behalf of the patients they cover for those fees already paid. The DFS is directing this recommendation to insurance companies, as the department does not have any authority over medical or dental providers.
