New OSHA Standard Has Little Impact on Dentistry

Upon review of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) emergency temporary standard, which was released on June 10, the American Dental Association asserts that the guideline has little effect on the practice of dentistry. The 900-page document is designed to provide protections for healthcare workers from COVID-19. The rate of SARS-CoV-2 infections among dentists and dental hygienists has been lower than other healthcare professionals, and dental practices were quick to implement additional measures to already strong infection control practices. OSHA’s emergency temporary standard does suggest that practices continue to pre-screen patients for COVID-19 before appointments and continue to maintain a COVID-19 plan. Click here to read more.
