Material May Phase Out the Need for Extracted Teeth in Dental Research

From randomized clinical trials to school science projects, extracted teeth are key components of dental research, but they are not always easy to procure. Now researchers from the University of Hong Kong, Wuhan University in China, and Drexel University in Philadelphia compared a synthetic composite material against real dentin and the results are promising. Strength, elasticity, hardness, and tenacity were compared, and the composite material was strikingly similar to natural dentin.
