Many Americans Left Confused About Mask Wearing

While Los Angeles County has gone back to an indoor mask mandate regardless of vaccination status, most other regions are following the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) recommendation that only unvaccinated individuals need to wear masks indoors. But with cases rapidly rising across the nation due to the highly transmissible Delta variant, many are left wondering what the best policy is to prevent infection with the novel coronavirus. Public health recommendations have varied on local, state, and federal levels. For instance, the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that all children older than 2 wear masks in schools regardless of vaccination status, while the CDC suggests that only unvaccinated children need to wear masks in schools.
