
Data Suggest COVID-19’s Incubation Period Is More Than 7 Days
After an intense review of initial COVID-19 case reports from Wuhan, China, a group of scientists, who used the renewal theory in probability to address recall bias, suggests that the SARS-CoV-2 incubation period is more like 7.76 days, not the 4- to 5-day window that was originally thought. Published in Science Advances, these results are important in the fight against COVID-19, as the accurate determination of the time between infection and the first presentation of symptoms is critical to public health efforts to stem the spread of the novel coronavirus.
