Lesley Harbison, RDH, MSDH, is an associate professor in the Department of Dental Hygiene at Pacific University in Hillsboro, Oregon. A practicing dental hygienist since 2000, she is a member of the American Dental Hygienists’ Association and serves as treasurer and past president of the Oregon Dental Hygienists’ Association. Harbison’s professional interests include increasing access to care, the geriatric population, ethics and empathy in dental hygiene, and advancing the dental hygiene profession. Toni McLeroy, CRDH, MSDH, FADHA, is an associate professor in the Department of Dental Hygiene at the State College of Florida in Bradenton where she teaches preclinic; clinic I, II and IV; and dental radiography. After practicing dental hygiene for 20 years, she began a career in dental hygiene education in 2010. McLeroy currently serves the dental hygiene profession at the local, state, and national levels.


Annette Smith, RDH, MSDH, is a lead instructor of dental hygiene and clinic coordinator at Dallas College in El Centro, Texas. A dental hygienist for 26 years, she received the 2021 Dental Hygiene Educators of Texas Oral B Educator of the Year award. Smith also served on the American Dental Hygienists’ Association COVID-19 Return to Work Task Force, providing resources for dental hygienists during the pandemic. A past president of the Texas Dental Hygienists’ Association, she was instrumental in passing legislation allowing dental hygienists to administer local anesthesia in Texas.
