EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
After reading this course, the participant should be able to:

  1. Describe the relationship between periodontal diseases and type 2 diabetes.
  2. Identify the components of the medical history and physical assessment that may reveal signs and symptoms of type 2 diabetes in pediatric and adolescent patient populations.
  3. Discuss the practice implications for oral health professionals in the effort to support early detection of type 2 diabetes in children and adolescents.
