China Is Already Vaccinating to Create ‘Immunity Barrier’

Officials from China’s National Health Commission (NHC) announced that it has been vaccinating essential workers—including border control agents and healthcare providers—against infection with the novel coronavirus since July 22. Developed by the China National Biotec Group Company, the experimental vaccine has undergone phase 3 clinical trials in the United Arab Emirates, Peru, Morocco, and Argentina. NHC officials assert that no adverse effects have been reported at this time. According to NHC officials, COVID-19 is currently well controlled in China, thus, they want to create an “immunity barrier” to prevent new cases introduced from outside of the country from proliferating throughout the nation of 1.4 billion people.
