Palmero Launches X-Ray Apron Recycle Program

Palmero Healthcare, a subsidiary of Hu-Friedy, has announced its latest green initiative, Palmero’s X-Ray Apron Recycle/Trade-In Program.

Palmero Healthcare, a subsidiary of Hu-Friedy, has announced its latest green initiative, Palmero’s X-Ray Apron Recycle/Trade-In Program. This ecofriendly and environmentally responsible program rewards clinicians for supporting green dental practices.

Lead aprons have a limited shelf-life as their shielding properties wear down gradually. To ensure these important protection barriers are still functioning properly, clinicians can assess the material via fluoroscopy or replace the apron if it shows signs of damage. When a lead apron is no longer viable, the United States Environmental Protection Agency suggests that it be recycled in order to keep the material out of landfills.

Palmero now offers a simple way to “go green” through its recycle/trade-in program. Clinicians can participate in one of two ways. For those only interested in ensuring the apron material is responsibly disposed of, Palmero will recycle used X-ray aprons via mail at the company’s Connecticut office (Palmero Healthcare LLC, Attn: X-Ray Recycle/Trade-In Program, 120 Goodwin Place, Stratford, CT 06615). Alternatively, Palmero’s Trade-In Program enables clinicians who purchase a new Palmero X-ray apron and recycle an old one to receive a complimentary X-ray apron hanger.
