Winner of the Alla J. Wheeler Award Is Announced

Dimensions of Dental Hygiene is the proud sponsor of the New York University (NYU) College of Dentistry Alla J. Wheeler Ethics and Professionalism Award, presented annually to recognize a graduating dental hygiene student who has demonstrated high levels of professionalism and ethics. The winner is selected by his or her peers. This year’s award was presented to Raj Sheth, BS, RDH, during the graduation ceremony for dental hygiene students on May 14.

“Sheth is an amazing example of professionalism, not only with his patients but also with his peers,” stated the nomination letter written by his fellow students in the dental hygiene program. “His respect and thoughtfulness for others is undeniable.”

“This award means everything to me because, in a profession where doing what is right is so important and in which honesty, compassion, and loyalty play a pivotal role with patients, it’s an honor to be recognized for something that enhances patient care,” Sheth told Dimensions.

This award is presented in honor of Alla J. Wheeler, RDH, MPA—a clinical assistant professor of dental hygiene at NYU and Dimensions’ Peer Review Panel member who passed away in 2010.
