Reconnecting Practicing Hygienists with the Nation's Leading Educators and Researchers.

Make a Virtual Commitment Real

Make A Virtual Commitment Real, It’s amazing how much can be done virtually in today’s techno-world.

It’s amazing how much can be done virtually in today’s techno-world. We can play virtual reality games, create an alter ego or avatar, and view that next vacation destination in real time—even if it’s on the other side of the world! In short, a virtual environment allows us to participate in events and situations as if we were actually there.

The second annual American Dental Hygienists’ Association (ADHA) Institute for Oral Health (IOH) In Motion: 5K Run, Walk, Fun—happening June 15—enables dental hygienists to connect for a good cause, no matter where they live. For the first time, dental hygienists can participate in this event virtually. So even if you are not physically present at the In Motion 5K, you can still be part of it. To register, visit: crowdrise.com/ADHARUNWALK2017.

Not sure what IOH is? It’s the only foundation by dental hygienists, for dental hygienists. With origins that date back to 1957, ADHA’s philanthropic organization has worked to advance professional excellence in dental hygiene education and research. Some of the current initiatives that IOH supports include:

  • Community service grants that support the efforts of dental hygiene professionals within their local communities and directly help improve the public’s oral health.
  • Scholarships that develop dental hygienists’ access to educational programs that empower and improve their knowledge.
  • Research grants specifically earmarked for dental hygiene research that help improve not only dental hygiene education, but patient care, as well.

The IOH is significant to dental hygiene as a profession and the public we serve. By improving our knowledge and education, we can better treat patients. Each year, thousands of dollars are awarded to enhance oral health care and to develop and empower dental hygiene professionals. By supporting IOH, we support our own. I hope you’ll join me in helping to better our profession. Let’s make a virtual commitment that can bring about real benefits!
