Dimensions of Dental Hygiene proudly announces that Tara L. Johnson, RDH, PhD, is the inaugural recipient of the Dimensions of Dental Hygiene Research Grant, administered through the American Dental Hygienists’ Association Institute for Oral Health. The $7,500 grant is designed to promote the advancement of the dental hygiene profession through increased knowledge of oral disease prevention. Johnson’s submission, “A Minimum Intervention Protocol Using Low-Dosage Silver Nitrate for Preventing and Managing Dental Caries,” was chosen from a pool of proposals that addressed prevention of dental caries, periodontal diseases, or oral cancer.
Johnson is an associate professor in the Department of Dental Hygiene at Idaho State University (ISU) in Pocatello. She serves on the ISU Institutional Review Board and is an advisory member of the National Center for Dental Hygiene Research & Practice. She recently co-authored the article “New Addition to the Caries Armamentarium” with Monika Alcorn, RDH, MS, which appears in the July issue of Dimensions.
