Antiparasitic Medication May Help in Treatment of COVID-19

An antiparasitic medication prescribed for river blindness is currently in use in some countries, including Bolivia and Peru, as an off-label treatment for COVID-19. Australian researchers concluded in April that the medication, ivermectin, was successful in decreasing the novel coronavirus in cell cultures. However, many public health experts suggest that recommending ivermectin without more rigorous randomized controlled trials is risky.
