ADA Wants Oral Health Professionals Included in the First Phase of COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution

The American Dental Association (ADA) is urging the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to include oral health professionals in the first phase of COVID-19 vaccine distribution along with other healthcare providers. At this point, oral health professionals are not part of the groups designated to receive COVID-19 vaccines—which initially will be in short supply—first. The ADA asserts that dentistry is an essential healthcare service, and that oral health professionals could help support an overwhelmed healthcare delivery system should medical personnel shortages occur.
