New York-based Colgate-Palmolive and Laval, Quebec-based Klox Technologies Inc recently announced an agreement to foster further development of Klox’s Human Oral Health technology platform. The collaboration, made public in February, will grant Colgate worldwide licensing to market Klox’s Biophotonic technology—a combination of biology and photonics—in the field of oral health with special focus on skin and soft tissue disorders.

The Annual Report on Dental Hygiene 2016 is published by Elsevier and sponsored by Colgate. A facilitator’s guide to the report, authored by Terri Tilliss, RDH, PhD— a professor at the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine and Dimensions of Dental Hygiene Editorial Advisory Board member— is designed to help educators incorporate the supplement into their dental hygiene curriculum. Ortek Launches Precaries Detection Device
Ortek Therapeutics Inc, Roslyn Heights, New York, recently received a United States patent for the Ortek ECD™ dental device—a proprietary system for detecting precaries lesions that cannot be readily detected by visual-tactile examination. The ECD device was developed at the Stony Brook University School of Dental Medicine, with Ortek obtaining exclusive worldwide rights. The device is designed to detect the earliest stages of tooth demineralization in molars and premolars with a high level of accuracy. With a patent granted, Ortek is now seeking US Food and Drug Administration clearance.
