Dental Spending Sees Only Slight Dip During Initial Pandemic Year

Even though dental practices were shuttered during March and April of 2020, the American Dental Association (ADA) Health Policy Institute found that dental spending only decreased by 1.8% from 2020 to 2021. The per capita spending was reported as $442 in 2019 and $430 in 2021. The ADA Health Policy Institute notes that the federal government’s Paycheck Protection Program and other financial programs geared toward small businesses made the difference in ensuring the viability of dental practices.
