As COVID-19 Cases Rise, One of the Nation’s Largest Cities Goes Back to Mask Mandate

Residents of Los Angeles County will once again need to mask up indoors—whether they are vaccinated or not—as of July 17.  Since July 9, the county has averaged approximately 1,000 new COVID-19 cases a day, a significant uptick that connotes widening community spread. Almost all of the new cases are among the unnvaccinated. The University of California system, which comprises 10 schools, also announced that it is requiring all students, staff, and faculty to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 before the start of the fall semester.
