COVID-19 Cases in the United States Reach a New Low

The number of new COVID-19 infections in the United States hit a new low on May 20 with an average of fewer than 30,000 cases reported over the past 7 days. Over the past 2 weeks, new cases have fallen by more than 35%. Nearly 40% of Americans have now been fully vaccinated against SARS-CoV-2. With plenty of supply available, the push is on to encourage every American to get a COVID-19 shot. Vaccination rates for the newly eligible group—children between the ages of 12 and 15—have been better than expected with more than 3.75 million kids receiving at least one dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 thus far.
