American Dental Hygienists’ Association Announces 2006-2007 Leadership
Chicago–July 17, 2006– Margaret Lappan Green, CDA, RDH, MS, Yorktown, Va., was elected the 2006-2007 president of the Chicago-based American Dental Hygienists’ Association on June 26, 2006, at the association’s 83rd annual session held in Orlando, Fla.
“To serve as ADHA president is a great and exciting opportunity, especially given the chance to oversee the furthering developments of many ADHA programs, including the expansion of access to care,” Green said. “Bringing the community greater access to care will continue to be my top priority as ADHA president.” Green said.
Green has held numerous positions within ADHA, most recently as president-elect. She has also served as vice president, district III trustee, director of the Institute for Oral Health, chair of the Committee on Administration and the Council on Education, and board advisor to the Council on Research. She is the recipient of many awards; most notably, the ADHA Distinguished Service Award, Pfizer/ADHA Award for Excellence in Dental Hygiene, University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine Distinguished Alumnus Award–Dental Hygiene 2000, Sigma Phi Alpha—Outstanding Educators of America, and the American Heart Association Volunteer of the Year. Green succeeds Katie L. Dawson, RDH, BS, of Oakland, Calif., as president. Dawson remains an ADHA officer as immediate past president as well as the 2006-2007 chair of ADHA Institute for Oral Health.
Additional ADHA officers installed at the annual session include: Jean Connor, RDH, Cambridge, Mass., president-elect and Diann Bomkamp, RDH, BSDH, CDHC, St. Louis, Mo., and Speaker of the House Kimberly Hickman-Bowen, RDH, BSDH, MA, Middleton, Del. Remaining in her position as treasurer is Carol A. Jahn, RDH, MS, Warrenville, Ill.
The newly installed district trustees for 2006-2007 are Linda Swarts, RDH, BHS, of Jacksonville, N.C., District IV (Fla., Ga., N.C., S.C.); Catherine Ellington, RDH, BS, of Metairie, La., District VI (Ala., Ark., La., Miss., Tenn.); Linda M. Jorgenson, RDH, BS, of River Falls, Wis., District VII (Minn., N.D., S.D., Wis.); Laurie K. Ghigleri, BS, RDH, of Colorado Springs, Colo., District X (Colo. Mont., Utah, Wyo.); and Susan Savage, RDH, BSDH, of Ellinsburg, Wash., District XII (Alaska, Hawaii, Idaho, Nev., Ore., Wash.).
Re-elected district trustees for 2006-2007 are as follows: Sherri L. Meyers, RDH, MS, of Wind Gap, Pa., District II (Conn., N.J., N.Y., Pa.); and Mary C. Kelly, RDH, BS, of Des Moines, Iowa, District VIII (Ill., Iowa, Kan., Mo., Neb.).
District trustees continuing their term for 2006-2007 are as follows: Beverley C. Litchfield, RDH, BS, EDd, of Scarborough, Maine, District I. (Maine, Mass., N.H., R.I., Vt.); Pamela L. Quinones, RDH, BS, of Rockville, Md., District III (Del., Washington, D.C., Md., Va., W.Va.); Lynn M. Ramer, LDH, of Logansport, Ind., District V (Ind., Ky., Mich., Ohio); Esperanza “Hope” Garza, RDH, BS, of Houston, Texas, District IX (Okla., N.M., Texas); Sharon Zastrow, RDH, of Scottsdale, Ariz., District XI (Ariz., Calif.)
